Steve and I first met Jim in 2019 when he came to Maine to provide music for a garden concert and poetry reading organized by photographer/poet Tom Bloom. Jim makes his home in South Carolina and has performed for many years with the Sonus Ensemble, specializing in medieval music. Jim suggested Tom seek out some local musicians to accompany him.

It should come as no surprise to those of you, especially in Southern Maine, familiar with Steve or me as musicians, that his quest led Tom to us and we agreed to participate. Steve will provide percussion and possibly Middle Eastern ney flute; I’ll have a dulcimer, tenor guitar, and perhaps a few other things.

On the last Thursday in August this trio will come together for a third year to perform a diverse program of medieval music, Irish & American folk music, and probably a few other surprises. Tom Bloom, the event organizer, will select poetry to be read by himself and others as he did last year.

It is sure to be a delightful summer evening full of wonderful aural stimulation.
